The National Championship Show 2014 Critique

Thank-you to everyone who supported me. I had a lovely day and it wasn’t too hot for the dogs. Just a pity about the wind rattling the tent and spooking a few dogs.

Minor Puppy Dog – no entries
Puppy Dog – no entries
Junior Dog – 5 entries (2 absent)

  1. Miss MJ Girling – Pyefleet Timothy – 13 month old dog. Lovely dark eye, good front construction with a deep chest and good spring of rib. Moved soundly. Has potential but needs to improve his ring craft.

  2. Mrs SJ Taylor – Kilbourne Boogaloo to Ormanstar – 14 month old dog. Lovely head and expression, well knuckled feet and good depth of chest but not the spring of rib seen in 1. Well handled and moved soundly but slightly closer behind than 1.

  3. Miss MJ Girling – Pyefleet Tarka.

Post Graduate Dog – 7 entries (1 absent)

  1. Mr K Owen & Miss Z Brodie – Luckhurst Nebo to Wolfcastle – well balanced, compact workmanlike dog not oversized. Well laid shoulder with good fore chest. Well knuckled feet and moved soundly with drive. Fit dog with good second thigh development.

  2. Mrs C Jenkins – Kilbourne Poacher – larger dog, low set hocks with good hind construction. Maintained a good top line during movement but did not have the drive of 1.

  3. Mr G & Mrs AM Greenhalgh – Regalflight Poacher at Leksmoor.

Limit Dog – 3 entries

  1. Mrs C Wilson – Hamiltonhill Fred D Mercury – mature dog, not too tall, had much better hind angulation than 2 and 3. Lovely head and expression, small neat ears. Well laid shoulders and deep chest. Sound, free flowing movement and very well handled.

  2. Mrs H & Dr SAF Helps – Beardswood Quinlan – younger dog, good reach of neck, deep chested with a well developed fore chest. Good width across quarters. Moved soundly.

  3. Mr MJ & Mrs GM Peach – Nimloth Bilbo for Kilbourne.

Open Dog – 3 entries (1 absent)

  1. Ms A Morton & Mr J Morgan – CH. Cotherstone Shot and Steel – mature dog, lovely front construction, good depth of chest. Good top line which was maintained on the move. Moved soundly and with drive.  Dog CC & BOB.

  2. Mrs SJ Taylor – Earl Grey Von Der Oelmuhle – mature dog with a lovely full coat, it is nice to see one that has not been trimmed too much. Good reach of neck and well laid shoulders. Lovely deep chest and moved very soundly for his age. Dog RCC.

Minor Puppy Bitch – 3 entries

  1. Mrs J Bond – Regalflight Racer – 7 months old. Loved this young lady, attending her first show, she behaved impeccably. Very well balanced for her age, lovely head and expression. Good width across her fore chest. I will be interested to watch her progress in the future.

  2. Ms E Day & Mr M O’Brien – Celticmoon Shadow Huntress – 8 months old. Good shoulder construction and fore chest. Depth of chest and tuck up yet to fully develop. Moved well for a puppy of that age and well handled.

  3. Mr G & Mrs V Meer – Shagiead Aunty Hetty for Lordswell.

Puppy Bitch - 2 entries (1 absent)

  1. Mrs S Platt – Charbonnel Grizel – 10 months old. Good top line which was maintained on the move with low set hocks. Good depth of chest. Moved soundly and well handled.

Junior Bitch – 7 entries (3 absent)

  1. Mr K Owen & Miss Z Brodie & Mr D Cody – Wolfcastle Greyce – liked the look of this bitch as soon as she came into the ring. Dark, harsh coat and lovely head and expression. Well balanced and workmanlike, moved soundly and with drive. Good hind angulation with low set hocks. Deep chest with better spring of rib than 2.

  2. Mr MJ & Mrs GM Peach – Kilbourne Liberty – lovely dark eye, well knuckled feet and low set hocks. Good depth of chest and moved soundly.

  3. Ms M Stuart & Ms K Holt – Lairigefyne Garron at Ollendshart.

Post Graduate Bitch 8 entries

  1. Mrs SJ Taylor – Kilbourne Pandora to Taylorpeche – lovely young bitch, well balanced and moved soundly. Good reach of neck continuing into a nice top line with good width across the quarters. Well knuckled feet. A little high on the knee in her rear construction.

  2. Mrs H & Dr SAF Helps – Bearsdwood Quintessence – mature bitch also well balanced and moved well but preferred movement of 1. Pretty feminine head. Deep chest with good width across the fore chest.

  3. Mr MJ Peach – Kilbourne Unity.

Limit Bitch 6 entries (2 absent)

  1. Mrs J Bond – Regalflight Civet – this bitch caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring. Workmanlike bitch that moved soundly and with drive. Well laid shoulders and good reach of neck. Deep chested with a good spring of rib. Bitch CC.

  2. Ms K Barrett – Stranwith Ariadne – feminine bitch with a wistful faraway look. Lovely full coat. Feet not as well knuckled as 1 but had better bend of stifle than 1. Nice deep chest and a good fore chest. Moved soundly maintaining her top line.

  3. Mr G & Mrs NB Bailey – Greyflax Just Peachey.

Open Bitch 4 entries

  1. Mrs SJ Taylor – CH. Kilbourne Baccarat to Ormanstar – well balanced bitch that moved soundly. Lovely head and expression more feminine than 2. Well laid shoulders and good fore chest and maintained top line on the move. Bitch RCC.

  2. Mr MJ & Mrs GM Peach – Kilbourne Wendela – again a lovely well balanced bitch but a bit high on the knee compared to 1. Good front construction and depth of brisket. Good top line and moved soundly.
